私には通訳の得意分野がいくつかあります。前回のブログで書いた舞台芸術がその一つです。もう一つ今強い情熱を持って取り組んでいる分野があります。それは、日本の原子力施設の廃止措置です。
皆さんご存知のように、日本の発電業界史上最大の惨事が福島第一原子力発電所を襲って以来、日本各地で原子力発電所の配置措置が決定しています。しかし、事故の起きていない原子力発電所の廃止措置と違って、人類未曽有の大惨事が起きてしまった福島第一の廃炉措置は、メルトダウンした燃料の取り出しなど、前例のないことばかりです。
そんな原子力業界には、廃止措置を経験している海外の原子力施設から既存の廃止措置関連技術を学ぼうという熱意にあふれています。そのような技術移転において通訳者として日本と諸外国をつなぐ役割を果たすことで、一日も早く福島第一の廃炉措置が終わり、近隣の住民の方々が安心して故郷に住めるようになるお手伝いをさせて頂きたいと望んでいます。
Since the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, the biggest catastrophe in the history of Japan's nuclear power industry, decisions have been made to decommission nuclear power stations across Japan. The decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi involves millions of tasks that have never been undertaken before, including the removal of fuel debris from the reactor after its meltdown.
The Japanese nuclear industry is eager to learn from nuclear industries outside Japan with decommissioning experience. By acting as a facilitator of knowledge transfers between Japan and other countries, I hope to be able to play a very small part in successfully completing the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi.
